Group visits
Smithills Hall is an ideal venue to visit as a group
If you are part of a large group of friends or an organised group and travelling by public or private transport please let us know in advance of your intended visit so that we can accommodate you in a guided tour around the Hall.
Coach tours
Coach tours are also very welcome and to arrange your visit please contact the Hall - please be aware that pre-booking is essential for coach tours.
Where to park your coach?
If you’re bringing a coach to Smithills Hall we offer on-site coach parking a short walk from the Hall.
Depending on the size of your coach you can be dropped off at the Hall but the coach must park over at the coach park situated at the back of the Coaching House Restaurant.
How long is a piece of string?
Please allow 1 to 1.5 hours for your visit.
Our average guided tour takes around 1 to 1.5 hours, however, we can tailor our tours to suit your group's needs.
Tours are lead by the Friends of Smithills Hall.

Refreshments?
Tea, coffee, cold drinks and snacks can be purchased in the museum shop.
Unfortunately, we do not sell sandwiches or hot food at this time.

The Hall is available for group bookings Tuesday- Friday and Sundays within the time frames in the table below.

- We would normally ask that your Group is 20 or more strong with a maximum of 50.
- We welcome groups of less than 20. However, please phone for details as we can only accommodate smaller groups during our normal daytime opening hour

Tea Party Tuesdays!
Book a guided tour of ten or more people on any Tuesday and we'll provide FREE tea and coffee for your group (on arrival or after your tour).

Accessibility
- Unfortunately, powered wheelchair users may find access difficult due to the narrow entries into the rooms.
- We would advise that visitors should contact the Hall before arranging a group visit.
- Disabled parking and for those who have difficulty in walking parking is available at the front of the Hall.
- Visitors are asked to take care of low doorways, steep staircases, uneven floors and furniture.
- High heeled shoes are discouraged.
