Bolton Museum, Aquarium and Archive is holding a series of workshops for the over 50s.
The summer school forms part of the council’s Active Ageing project, designed to promote a longer, happier and healthier life for the borough’s older residents.
Taster courses held at the museum will help to bring like-minded people together and help to broaden their horizons.
The first session takes place from 10am to 2pm on Wednesday, June 16, with a tour of the museum’s Egyptology collection led by the Curator of Egyptology, Carolyn Routledge.
On Thursday, June 17, from 10am to noon, there will be a guided walk and talk about local natural history with Curator Don Stenhouse at Smithills Hall.
Finally, Julie Lamara, Local Studies Librarian, will provide an in-depth look at local studies and history materials at Bolton Museum, between 10am and noon on Friday, June 18.
The summer school runs all week and also includes a variety of taster sessions at Brownlow Fold and Westhoughton Community Learning Centres.
For details contact the centres direct on 01204 907800 (Brownlow Fold) and 01204 907600 (Westhoughton). For the museum sessions, contact Sandra Harbot on 01204 332178.
The summer school sessions are free and supported by the Skills Funding Agency and Bolton College.
